Automatic exchange of information

When you access the www.type1support.ca website, information is automatically exchanged between your computer and the website server. However, this exchange does not make it possible to identify you personally without any intervention on your part.

The website collects this information due to the inherent technological requirements of Internet navigation. The server needs this information to send you files that are compatible with the hardware you use. However, please rest assured that those requirements will never make it possible to identify you.

The research team uses Google Analytics to analyze use of the platform by collecting user data such as the number of visits, most popular pages, technology used by users, time spent on a page, number of PDF files downloaded, etc. A confidential code is assigned to each user. This navigation data is never used to draw up a list of users. The senior researcher and his or her delegates are the only people who have access to the data.

Sharing of personal information

The website does not collect any personal information without the consent of visitors, which makes it compliant with the applicable privacy legislation.

If you have provided personal information as part of a study on the Support platform (e.g., e-mail address), this information will never be visible to other users of the site. This personal information will be stored in a separate database that is accessible only to the senior researchers. The navigation data collected by Google Analytics will be associated to each user’s confidential code and not to their personal information.

We would like to remind you that email is not a totally secure means of sharing information. For this reason, we advise you against disclosing your personal information by email. We will act similarly by not responding to questions by email when this involves sending confidential information.

All of the study participants living with type 1 diabetes are invited to participate in the online forum discussion. They must use an alias that will be visible to other users.
